Stray Dogs

Please be advised that Animal Vet Services are unable to take on uninjured and apparently healthy stray dogs found by the public as the clinic is not suitably equipped to run a kennel service.

You need to be aware that if you pick up a stray dog, it becomes your responsibility. Please contact Cornwall Council on 0300 1234 212 in order to arrange for a dog warden to take on the dog. This phone number is also operational out of hours. However, the dog warden will ususally only be able to pick up the stray dog from you during normal office hours. If you phone out of hours you might be asked to keep the dog until the dog warden is available or to take the dog to the nearest kennel contracted by Cornwall Council.

Please note that following a change in the law in 2008, the Police are no longer responsible for stray dogs.
